Have you ever got one of those silly emails that offers to let you own a keyword? When you are looking for help promoting your site, using keyword research may seem like a good idea. One of my favorite subjects to teach on at our live SEO Mastery Workshops is that of keyword research and the behavior of a specific target audience using my all time favorite research tool, Wordtracker.
This is very worrying to me as there must be a large number of people who base their entire keyword research campaigns on the data from Overture. Other keyword research tools exist, and you’ll need to check each of the tools’ websites to determine where they get their data. You will now have the data for the number of searches on the Yahoo-Overture network for the month and the number of competing websites for each keyword phrase in your list.
This will return you a list of words and phrases that are similiar to your keyword phrase and also provide you with the number of searches for each of these results on the Yahoo-Overture network for the month. In the end you will have confirmed a solid list of keyword phrases and if the PPC campaign is providing a good return on investment you might as well keep it running and enjoy the "bonus" traffic that it provides. After you have selected your list of keywords and keyword phrases another good test to run is to find out the keywords that people are actually spending their money.
